[REVIEW] YSL FUSION INK CUSHION FOUNDATION

Cushion trend is already going for few years, but I have joined the numbers only recently. I actually prefer them over classic foundations as they are much more practical to use and their covers are so pretty!

Today I will be talking about YSL cushion foundation, which managed to make a a hole in my purse! Gosh, only my Vanity knows why I purchased this product (tell me Vanity, why?)

Packaging

The YSL cushion foundation comes in a shiny golden box (for some reason its color reminded me the armor of Escanor hehe). The compact has a golden body and black top, with YSL logo engraved on it. Its design definitely screamed: “Yo, I’m a high-end product!”
Great thing is it also has a refill, though it’s not part of this package. So, you need to buy it separately.

Shade

There were 6 shades. The one I had was #30 – almond. I hit the right shade but wrong undertone.
Shade 30 had pink undertone in it, but my skin was on yellow side. The result was that after I applied the product on my face, I looked a bit unnatural on some angles when facing the light. Fortunately, it was not that bad and obvious, so I still use it.

*This cushion is made in Korea. This may be the reason behind pink undertones. In asian countries, people think pinkish foundation look more healthy on the face.

Sunscreen

SPF 23/ PA +++ (don’t ever rely on sunscreen in foundation!!!)

Oxidation

After few hours, the foundation color will gradually oxidize and turn a shade darker.

(It’s not that evident in the photo though)

Coverage

This cushion foundation can go from light to medium coverage (depending on how much product you apply). It does a pretty good job to to even out skin tone and hide imperfections (though you can still see them peeking through).

Finish

The finish looked natural and almost flawless (as I found a little creasing around my nose and chin area). It felt so lightweight on your face that you almost got the feeling like you had nothing applied there.
A big pros for me was also that this cushion foundation leaned on matte side, which meant it was supposed to be ideal for people with combination to oily (like me).

Lasting power

This product doesn’t last long, 3-4 hours only, after which the area of my T-zone begins to produce oil. Like lots of oil (I literally looked like as if I mistook lard for foundation!). Moreover, it began to feel heavy and the oxidation caused that the foundation on my face darkened.

My impression

Overally, I quite liked this cushion foundation (at first). My skin looked amazing with it. It also felt lightweight and appeared very natural. But! On the other side, I was truly disappointed with its lasting power. 3-4 hours is a very little time, and when you add the fact that this cushion foundation also oxidizes (consider it as a free face self-tan). With the kind of price they were selling it, I definitely expected more…
