The Big Shot’s Girlfriend Is a Demoness chapter 9

The Big Shot’s Girlfriend Is a Demoness translation

On the side of the production crew, everything was in chaos and a complete mess.

When the earthquake struck, it caused even more damage for them than it did for Luoxi and the group. Many machines fell and broke, and there were several injured people.

The worst thing was that the cupboard had directly smashed the six computers that were connected to the flying cameras, causing them to turn off. Some screens were cracked and others went black, so the situation of the guests could not be monitored.

The chief director’s heart tightened with fear for the guests. He ordered a staff member to quickly set sail and bring the guests back.

The person in charge of communicating with the boatman returned in distress: “Director, the boatman refuses to venture out to sea. He claims that a tsunami is coming and going out to sea now would mean certain death.”

The chief director was frantic: “Tsunami?! The guests are still on the island!”

“I tried to tell him that, but the boatman won’t budge,” the staff member replied, on the verge of tears, both alarmed and scared.

He was alarmed because the consequences of something happening to the guests would be catastrophic and scared because the resort they were staying on was also on an island. In the event of a tsunami, would the buildings on the island be able to withstand it?

The director knew that blaming the boatman was pointless. They were the ones who had rented the boat and paid the boatman to navigate it, but they could not let him sacrifice himself. These people who had been working at sea for many years were wise and knowledgeable. If they all claimed that a tsunami was coming and going out to sea would mean certain death, then it was extremely dangerous.

When the director realized this fact, his whole body turned icy cold.

The guests….what should he do with them?

“Would it be helpful to call the police?” The staff member asked, trembling with fear.

People often called the police in times of trouble, and the Chinese military police had a high reputation among ordinary folks.

Upon hearing the staff member’s words, the chief director immediately ran to find the boatman.

The phone signal on the island was already weak. After the earthquake, it was completely lost. However, there was a satellite phone on the boat. It could be used for an emergency call to the Chinese Maritime Search and Rescue team.

Once the phone was connected, the chief director immediately informed them of the situation of six guests being trapped on a deserted island. The Maritime Search and Rescue team didn’t waste any time. After learning the location, they promptly dispatched a patrol boat to retrieve the people.

The chief director hung up the phone. He, who had no faith, for the first time prayed, for the Jade Emperor, for the queen mother of the west, for Taiyi Zhenren1, for the God, and for Jesus, anything would do. He begged heaven to bless the patrol boat and help it reach the guests in time.

Unfortunately, the director’s luck was not with him. The tsunami arrived before the patrol boat could leave the harbor. The storm swept up the sea, making the turbulent water hit the coastline. The waves built up, carrying the power of nature that humans couldn’t overcome.

The production crew was relocated to much safer and higher ground. As they gazed at the tsunami through the window, their expressions turned grim.

The situation here was already dire enough. That being the case, the island…..

———

Luoxi grabbed Li Mo and Xie Ze, swimming to a relatively calm area in the sea.

When the tsunami hit, this not big island was almost completely swallowed by the waves. The sea was littered with plant debris, which posed as invisible killers to humans. Under the power of the tsunami, these seemingly weak objects could cause a bruise and pierce people.

Luoxi picked up a floating object which appeared like some plant branch. It could be used as a floating board. She used the vines to tie this branch under Xie Ze.

Xie Ze was unconscious from the impact of the huge tsunami waves. He hasn’t yet regained consciousness. With the help of this floating object, he could lean over it and stay afloat.

Luoxi then grabbed a smaller one and handed it to Li Mo to hold on to it.

Despite being conscious, Li Mo’s face was pale from the impact of the tsunami waves. She shook her head, “Hold onto it. You’re dragging the two of us. You need this more.”

Luoxi pushed the wooden block into her arms, “Your swimming skills are not as good as mine. Just hold onto it.”

Li Mo: “…….”

Although it was true, her words made people unhappy.

“I wonder how Gong Xu and the others are doing…” Li Mo clung to the wooden block with a haggard face.

The moment the vines broke, the giant waves separated them. When Li Mo was swept under the sea by the huge waves, she thought she was going to die. Even though she could swim, her skills were useless in the face of a natural disaster like a tsunami.

As she was being pushed down into the sea, she struggled to swim upward, but she was pushed back time and again. Her lungs hurt as if they were on fire, and when she was short of oxygen, she even felt despair.

As Li Mo reached the brink of exhaustion and could no longer struggle, she saw Tang Luoxi dive into the sea to save her. At that moment, she had a fleeting thought that she saw an angel. This sight caused Li Mo’s complicated heart which was tainted by society suddenly soften.

It turned out that this newbie truly wasn’t acting.

It turned out that the world was not devoid of good individuals, but rather, she had previously assumed the worst about them.

After being rescued by Luoxi and brought to the surface, Li Mo realized that Gong Xu and the others were missing. The two of them stayed afloat on the sea. After finding Xie Ze, they saw no one else again. They guessed that the others must have been swept far away by the waves.

Li Wei didn’t know how to swim. She only hoped that the three of them were together. In any case, Gong Xu and Mo Nan could watch out a bit for Li Wei.

Li Mo was abruptly poked by Luoxi. Exhausted, she turned her head and used her eyes to inquire what Luoxi wanted.

Luoxi blinked. She pouted her lips at a not-distant place, “Is that…..a leopard?”

Her knowledge about the creatures on Earth was seriously lacking, so she asked the question hesitantly.

Li Mo didn’t give it much thought and stared at the animal swimming not far from them with wide eyes.

The leopard’s golden fur was dotted with black, circular spots. Only its head was exposed. It was petite with a rounded shape and short ears. Its eyes were almond-shaped. Whiskers grew on both sides of its mouth and occasionally, its white fangs could be seen.

While it had a feline appearance, its appearance, and size made it clear that it was not a kitten.

“…..leopard? Why is there a leopard in the sea?!”

Li Mo freaked out a little as the animal kept coming closer to them. The animal that tried its best to swim was clearly a leopard. Looking at the color of its coat and the pattern, it must be purebred.

“Maybe the tsunami swept it into the sea?”Luoxi took a glance at the leopard. Oh, this fellow had quite a lot of meat. It could be eaten, couldn’t it?

“Leopards generally inhabit forests, wetlands, or arid terrain. No matter how powerful the tsunami was, it couldn’t have carried a leopard here!” Li Mo thought that this newbie’s lack of general knowledge was a concern. That was not a seal but a terrestrial animal.

“Maybe it is from the island.” Luoxi said nonchalantly.

She didn’t care about the origin of the leopard, as its meat would provide proper food for them given their current circumstances.

A chill ran through the leopard that was swimming toward them. It turned its head in confusion, only continuing to swim towards Luoxi after confirming that there were no dangerous creatures in the sea at the moment.

Li Mo’s teeth began to chatter, “I-it is coming. What does it want to do….could it be that it wants to eat us?!”

Luoxi murmured: “It’s not certain who will eat whom.”

“What?” Li Mo asked, not having heard her clearly. She nervously muttered, “Don’t you have a good affinity with animals? Could it be that it’s coming to make friends with you?”

“I don’t like fluffy animals. They’re difficult to tidy up.”

Luoxi picked up a piece of trunk debris and compared them with each other. It was quite suitable for smashing the leopard. If she knocks it out, she could tie it up and take it away.

When the leopard approached, Luoxi swiftly lifted a sturdy and heavy wooden block and, with accuracy, struck the leopard’s head with a sharp and loud sound, leaving Li Mo astonished.

Li Mo: “!!!”

The leopard was stunned by the blow. Its almond-shaped eyes rolled back.

Seeing that one hit wasn’t enough, Luoxi immediately struck again.

Unbeknownst, whether the leopard was exhausted or dizzy from the two consecutive blows, it wobbled as if going to lose consciousness.

Luoxi skillfully fished out the leopard and securely tied it up with vines to the same tree trunk as Xie Ze. The leopard was attached to one end while Xie Ze was shackled to the other, ensuring that even if the leopard woke up, it wouldn’t be able to bite Xie Ze. The floating object beneath Xie Ze was large enough to accommodate both a man and a leopard as they drifted on the sea.

Li Mo was shocked by Luoxi’s actions. It took her a while to stammer: “…..you hit a grade one state-level protected animal.”

Luoxi was stupefied. She asked abruptly: “Can you eat a grade one state-level protected animal?”

Li Mo: “…….”

Li Mo wiped her face, finally comprehending Luoxi’s train of thought. She uttered quietly: “You can’t.”

Treating a leopard as food stock, and even knocking it out with a wooden brick. Do you have to be so cruel?!

“So you can’t eat it…..” Luoxi was disappointed. It has so much meat, but it couldn’t be eaten. It grew to be so big for nothing.

“You can’t eat it. If you turn it over to the authorities, you could be rewarded,” Li Mo quickly said, afraid that Luoxi will slaughter the leopard.

“Reward what? Food?”

“A commendation with media coverage, recognition as an admirable person, and a flag for exemplary deeds, I presume…” Li Mo had never saved an endangered animal, but from what she’d seen in news reports, this appeared to be the norm.

Luoxi turned up her nose, “Humans are such hypocrites. Why is it all bogus?”

“Li Mo thought her words were full of points for roasting, but for the moment she couldn’t think of what was odd about it. So, she simply said, “…..there should be reward money too.”

Upon hearing this, Luoxi tightened the vines that bound the leopard. The reward money wasn’t bad and she pondered if it was enough to construct a swimming pool.

As they spoke, the leopard woke up. The wild animal’s vitality was indeed incredible. As soon as its eyes opened, it appeared a little disoriented. The throbbing pain on its head reminded it of how it ended up in this state.
